Prior to the upstairs addition, the attic space housed insulation and not much else. Great views of the Wasatch were never appreciated until the master bedroom looked yonder. To accommodate the new addition, the ridge was raised only 3 feet to comply with the city ordinance. Within the new space upstairs, are the home’s bedrooms, baths and office. Above the stairway core, are 6 skylights that provide fantastic natural lighting. The old, forced air mechanical system was replaced with a radiant heated floor. The domestic hot water side of the plumbing system is heated via 2 solar, thermal panels. To meet the summer cooling demand, we installed a ducted, ground mounted evaporative cooler. The interior and exterior finishes were given equal consideration throughout the construction process, and the entire project lasted a mere 8 months.
