The client wanted to resurrect a degrading garage and incorporate a new patio / deck to admire the backdrop of Mt. Olympus and Neffs Canyon. The garage foundation walls were salvaged and reinforced with new concrete columns that frame the garage door openings.  A new wood frame, roof diaphragm was installed to increase the building’s structural integrity. After installing a bomber roof membrane, we framed a deck system to float on top. Composite decking was chosen as the finish because of its durability when exposed to the forces of weather. A rusted steel awning structure and powder coated steel railing system help keep the deck comfortable for relaxing, on hot summer days. The final exterior detail that pulls the design together is the band of stainless steel that wraps around the building, juxtaposed with the rusted panels that adorn the garage doors.
